The Source and His Son

Our Father is the source of all that exists and was created. He is the source of all blessings and all this is to glorify His name through us as we return all blessings back to Him through Jesus Christ. We believe in God so we should believe in Jesus also. Christ is fully God, yet He is someone other than God. Jesus and God are perfectly one, yet have distinct wills and beings. God is a divine being while Jesus is a human being who is also divine. They speak with one voice in perfect agreement. Let us also seek to speak and choose in perfect agreement with the Father and the Son, giving all glory and blessings to God who is the only source of all that is good.

  1. The Father as the Source – It is true that the Father is the source of all creation (1 Corinthians 8:6, James 1:17). All blessings ultimately come from Him.
  2. Returning Blessings Through Jesus – Scripture supports that we offer worship and thanksgiving to the Father through Christ (Hebrews 13:15, Ephesians 5:20).
  3. Belief in Jesus and the Father – Jesus Himself said, “You believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1), affirming that faith in Him is inseparable from faith in the Father.
  4. Jesus is Fully God and Yet Distinct from the Father – John 1:1-14, Colossians 2:9, and Philippians 2:6 affirm that Christ is fully divine. However, He is distinct from the Father, as seen in John 17:3 and His prayers to the Father.
  5. Jesus as Both Divine and Human – Philippians 2:7-8 describes Jesus taking on humanity while retaining His divine nature. He is both fully God and fully man.
  6. Distinct Wills Yet Perfect Unity – Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane (Luke 22:42) shows that He has a will distinct from the Father, but He submits to the Father's will in perfect harmony.
  7. Speaking and Choosing in Unity with God – Jesus calls His followers to unity with Him and the Father (John 17:21-23). Seeking to align our will with God’s is central to Christian discipleship.
